What Our Listeners Have Said
“Great podcast about Twin Ports pool. Definitely worth a listen! ”
“Great podcast. Anyone who is involved in the Twin Ports pool scene should check it out. Guarantee you’ll learn something!”
“Love the podcast! The stories are great and it keeps the listener engaged from start to finish. Keep up the great work!”
“Recently got turned onto this podcast. Started listening to the first episode at about 10pm. Fell asleep at 3 am when I was through all of the available to listen to. Even without knowing the players, the stories are great enough that that doesn’t matter. This needs to be done on a national level. Hoping Nick sticks with it and takes it to that level.”
“ I think you are doing a great job of promoting the sport of pool and getting some great information out there! I loved hearing some of the stories that shed a bit more light on your guests, most of who I had the pleasure of playing with for years! Keep up the great work!”
“Really Cool! Take the time to listen to it. You don’t have to be a pool player to enjoy the stories!”
About the Show
Chalk is Cheap strives to fill the void between pool players in the upper midwest, more specifically the Twin Ports and the rich pool history of the area. Longtime billiard player Nick Olson hosts a podcast filled with great conversations with guests from the Twin Ports area and around the globe who share compelling stories and give advice to beginning players. Not only does the show feature interviews, there are many other segments to give pool players all they can ask for in a pool podcast.
About The Host
Nick Olson
Nick began playing the game of pool at the age of 4 years old. He wasn’t tall enough to see over the table so he needed a stool or beer box to reach over the rails to play the game. He began playing ACS, BCA, and VNEA sanctioned 8-ball leagues at the age of 13 and was dubbed “a future star” of the game in local circles.
Nick’s career interests, and many hobbies limited his success in the game but in recent years has become a local league operator and has become a student of the game with goals on competing at a high level.
Nick hopes that his brainchild, Chalk is Cheap can help ignite the pool scene in Minnesota and Wisconsin for youth that is so desperatly needed to keep the game alive and well into the future.
On Episode Two of the Twin Ports Series, Nick tells listeners about his battle with Salmonella and his return to the show. Nick makes his statement regarding Ryan Klinger and Isolation Pool Tournaments including his opinion on the situation and making it clear that our show is no longer affiliated with Isolation.
